Causeway Education is a leading UK social mobility charity with a mission to ensure young people’s progression is not determined by privilege. For over a decade, we have supported young people from low-income backgrounds to navigate key transition points and access competitive universities, apprenticeships, and careers, by tackling systemic barriers through expert guidance, outreach, and training.
At the heart of our mission is the Modern Work Experience programme - an innovative, scalable approach that reimagines traditional work placements to be more inclusive, meaningful, and skills-focused.

Causeway Education is working to create lasting change by embedding Modern Work Experience within school systems and employer practices. We are building a future in which access to opportunity is not determined by background, but by potential, and where all young people are prepared to thrive in an evolving workforce.
Too many young people – especially those from lower-income backgrounds – miss out work experience, while we know that those who access four or more quality employer encounters are 86% less likely to become NEET (not in education, employment, or training). By offering Modern Work Experience to whole cohorts, Causeway aims to ensure every young person - regardless of background - can benefit from high-quality encounters with employers that build confidence, develop essential skills, and expand career horizons.
